Laura Fergusson Court, Edinburgh
| Laura Fergusson Court is situated in the residential area of East Craigs, to the west of the city. There is a pub, doctor's and dentist's surgery, and both primary and secondary schools close by. There are a wide range of facilities nearby in both Corstorphine and the Gyle Shopping Centre. The scheme was completed in 1979 and has 57 self-contained flats of various sizes and two Sheltered Housing Officer flats. The development also has a communal lounge, laundry and two guest bedrooms. There is also a staff office. The main building is on three floors, all of which are served by a lift. The emphasis at Laura Fergusson Court is on tenants being as independent as possible. Tenants are encouraged to undertake all aspects of day-to-day living tasks as far as they are able. For some, sheltered housing may be a first step towards independent living.
