Margaret Blackwood Housing Association has been overwhelmed with application requests for its new apprenticeship scheme launching today (Friday 21 July 2006) at their Jobs Fair at the South St Andrew Street Jobcentre Plus.
The Association have been running a recruitment fair advert in the national press encouraging people to apply for a range of jobs including three apprenticeship vacancies in their newly devised Small Works Team - two Apprentice Joiners and one Apprentice Painter and Decorator.
After only 10 days they have been inundated with over 200 application requests. "With only three apprenticeship posts available, the response has really taken us by surprise", said Chris Thomson, Technical Services Director. "Margaret Blackwood Hosing Association is keen to invest in apprenticeships to support he future development and maintenance programmes of the Association, and with such an overwhelming response, it's a real pity more companies are not taking on apprentices".
