Margaret Blackwood Housing Association has welcomed all the tenants who have moved into their new homes at Barleyhill Terrace in Restalrig, Edinburgh.
Of the twelve new flats, ten have two bedrooms and two have one bedroom. All are fully double glazed and have gas-fired central heating. The development is located in a quiet residential area close to Leith Links and Leiths many other amenities.
Margaret Blackwood Housing Association worked closely with the Investment Team from the City of Edinburgh Council to secure grant funding for the project.
Six of the homes were funded through the councils Affordable Housing policy. The other six were purchased off the shelf from the developer using funding from the Scottish Government which was provided to speed up the supply of affordable housing.
Barleyhill Terrace has a mix of homes for rent and owner occupation with the Association having two of the four stairs in the development.
As she received the keys to her new home, delighted new tenant Anne MacDonald told us, The flats lovely and living here will make a real difference its so much nearer my work and to my son Darrens College.
The Association became involved in the project through their membership of the Rowan Group, one of the City of Edinburgh Councils preferred partners for investment funding. The Rowan Group consists of eight housing associations who use their expertise, resources and specialist knowledge to create innovative, sustainable housing and communities and promote social inclusion.
