Tenant Day a HUGE Success (3)

After a break for afternoon coffee, members of the Tenants’ Association at Blackwood Court, Dundee, held a Question & Answer session about setting up a Tenants’ Group and about the positive things that come out of doing so. With the Association looking to remodel Blackwood Court over the next couple of years, the residents felt that the Association gave them a real voice in influencing the outcome of the project, as well as encouraging them to go on and start social events and look at other issues as a group. They talked about their fundraising efforts, including selling T-shirts and other branded merchandise, as well as their pioneering web site at www.blackwoodcourtrto.org.uk.

As the day drew to a close at 4pm, tenants had the opportunity to fill in their feedback forms. Thank you to everyone who gave us your comments. Everyone seems to have had a great day, with particular praise going to the house building event and to Jennifer Evans and Bob James for their talks. It is great that we have had such positive feedback as that means that you enjoyed the day! For some aspects of the event – such as the speakers, the venue and the day itself – you awarded up to 97 marks out of a hundred. We are, of course, also taking on board your very helpful comments on things that could have been a little better, such as a greater number of accessible toilets and that you are interested in more local events. We will be bearing your comments in mind when planning events in the future. The feedback forms were put into the prize draw and Kenny Henderson drew our winner; Mrs Ann Hill of Cala Sona Court who won a £30 prize.

A huge “Thank You” to everyone who helped make this day possible, both staff and tenants. Many tenants were involved in the running of this event, from the planning stages to contributing on the day, and it was this that made it so good. If you want to get involved with any aspect of future events, or maybe want to do something locally, then get in touch with , our tenant participation officer!
