Tenant and support worker

Our staff work in partnership with each individual and, where relevant, other agencies, to provide care and support which empowers people to make their own life choices.

Our aim is to provide high quality services that support individuals to have choice and control over their lives in accommodation that meets their needs. We believe every disabled person has the same unique value and fundamental rights as anyone else.

Backing Your Life Choices is our strategy to achieve this. It brings together our philosophy and values, along with person centred planning to focus on the outcomes you want and plan how we can support you to achieve this.
  

Our philosophy

We recognise that you have the right to:

  • be treated with dignity
  • be treated as an individual
  • be supported to pursue independence
  • be supported to take on responsibility and make informed choices
  • take risks and understand the responsibilities that go along with this
  • have your cultural and religious preferences accepted and respected
  • have your  physical, sexual and emotional needs accepted and respected
  • have your strengths recognised and built upon
  • have privacy and confidentiality in relation to your living space, personal belongings, and how you spend your time
  • to privacy and control over your financial and personal affairs

We will support you to:

  • achieve your goals and dreams
  • meet other people in the community, and build relationships and networks
  • access resources and events  in your community including social, educational, leisure and medical facilities

We will encourage and support you to:

  • choose to have an independent advocate to safeguard your personal interests and support you make your views known,
  • complain about any aspect of your service you are unhappy with
  • be involved in recruiting new staff
  • be informed of policies and procedures which affect your service, and have your comments and opinions heard and listened to
  • access your  personal information and records and know on what basis we share this  information with others

In working to these principles and holding to their underlying values of respect, honesty and integrity we will deliver a service that is sensitive to your needs and supports you to lead life as you choose.
