Blackwood's Board of Management is thrilled to announce its decision to extend Steve White's contract as Interim Chief Executive for a further 18 months.
Steve, who was appointed on an interim basis in August 2010, was given the goal of creating long-term organisational stability, streamlining processes and instilling a strong customer focus throughout Blackwood.
He has initiated a number of large-scale projects over the last year. The decision to extend his contract demonstrates the Board of Management's ongoing commitment to create a viable, revitalised organisation underpinned by strong values. It will allow Steve and the management team to work together to seamlessly lead the change programme through to its completion.
Talking about his work with Blackwood so far, Steve says, "There is a way to go, but our determination to do more and better for the people who really matter, our tenants and customers, remains undiminished.
"Through straight-talking, honesty, ambition and creativity, we have accomplished so much over the last year and have transformed Blackwood whilst making the very best of the talent and resources we have. Blackwood is now better equipped than ever to deliver Dr Margaret Blackwood's vision."
Stephen Gallagher, Blackwood's new Chairperson, explains the Board's decision: "We are delighted that Steve will be working with us to lead the delivery of our change programme, which is amongst the most ambitious and customer-focussed in the sector. There is a real energy around Blackwood and a sense that we have rediscovered our passion and our commitment to excellence.
"While we know there is much more to be done, we also know that we have an appetite to see through these changes in culture, ways of working and responsiveness to tenants, service users and partners."
