Dorward Gardens, Montrose

Dorward Gardens is located off Dorward Road, overlooking the attractive Links Gardens which are open to the public. The scheme is close to the town centre and there is a good range of shops including a supermarket, a Post Office, banks and building societies, and a dental surgery all within 800 yards. Montrose Royal Infirmary is less than a mile away.

Completed in 1989, Dorward Gardens consists of 19 houses and flats, of which six have been designed for wheelchair users. All properties are double glazed and have electric heating. The flats are fitted with door entry systems. Tenants who feel that they may be vulnerable can have their homes linked to the local authority's Community Alarm system.

The Association maintains the communal garden areas. The road into the development has been adopted by the local authority.

Dorward Gardens has won nine awards, including the European Helios Award.

Scheme Management and Maintenance

Dorward Gardens is managed from the Association's Edinburgh Housing Services Office, where the Maintenance Department is also based.

Applying for a House

If you would like to apply for a house, please make your application direct to our Housing Services Department in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices. Additionally, please apply to the Housing Department of your local council, with whom we have a nomination agreement.

Our turnover of tenancies is low so, regrettably, waiting lists do apply.

Rent and Service Charges

Rents and service charges are normally reviewed on an annual basis. Service charges cover various services such as landscaping and the replacement of equipment. All tenants receive a detailed Service Charge Statement every year.
